DRYER VENT CLEANING

What Dryer Vent Cleaning Includes

Dryer vent cleaning covers the whole exhaust path, not just the lint screen or the hose behind the machine. Lint that gets past the screen settles along the duct and packs into the termination outside, and that is where the restriction usually is.

Our standard dryer vent cleaning is $89 for a single-story home and $149 for a two-story home or a vent we reach from the roof. Repairs to damaged or non-compliant vents are priced separately.

Before doing anything beyond the cleaning, we explain what we found and give you the price for your approval.

  • The full exhaust run, dryer to outside
  • Transition hose behind the dryer
  • Exterior termination or roof cap cleared
  • Behind and around the dryer vacuumed
  • Airflow checked at the termination
  • Before and after photos when applicable

Why Homeowners Choose Clean Air Duct Cleaning for Dryer Vents

A dryer vent cleaning should leave you with a vent that actually moves air, and a clear idea of anything that still needs attention. That is what we focus on, from the first phone call to the airflow check at the end.

Local Central Florida Company

We clean dryer vents for homes and businesses across Hernando, Pasco, Citrus, Sumter, Marion and Hillsborough counties.

Published Dryer Vent Prices

Our standard dryer vent cleaning is $89 for a single-story home and $149 for a two-story home or a vent reached from the roof. Repairs are explained and priced before they are done.

The Whole Run, Not Just the Hose

The blockage that matters is usually in the wall, the attic or the cap outside. We clean the full exhaust path from the dryer to the termination.

Roof and Long Runs Handled

Dryers on interior walls often vent a long way to a roof cap. Those long runs are routine for our technicians.

Airflow Checked Before We Leave

Once the run is clear and the dryer is reconnected, we check the airflow at the termination so you can see the vent working.

Photos of What We Found

We photograph the vent when applicable, so you can see the lint that came out and the condition of the termination.

Problems Pointed Out, Not Hidden

A crushed hose, a disconnected joint or a screen over the termination will keep causing trouble. We show you what we found and what fixing it costs.

A Clean Laundry Room

We vacuum behind, under and around the dryer and leave the laundry area as tidy as we found it.

DRYER VENT CLEANING

Why Does a Dryer Vent Need Cleaning?

Every load sends lint past the lint screen and into the vent. Over time it narrows the duct and packs into the termination, and the dryer has to push its hot, damp air through a smaller and smaller opening. Longer drying times, a hot laundry room and extra wear on the dryer follow.

The U.S. Fire Administration reports that failure to clean is the leading factor in home clothes dryer fires. A vent cleaned on a regular schedule keeps the airflow the dryer was designed for.

HOW OFTEN

How Often Should You Have Your Dryer Vent Cleaned?

For most homes we recommend having the dryer vent cleaned once a year, and no longer than every 24 months. How quickly a vent clogs depends on how often the dryer runs, the length of the run and how many bends it has.

Longer drying times are usually the first sign that the vent needs attention sooner than the calendar says.

Once a Year

Most homes

A yearly cleaning keeps lint from building up to the point where it restricts airflow, for a typical household on a typical run.

Sooner if: Clothes taking longer to dry, a hot laundry room, or lint showing at the termination outside.

Every 24 Months

Outside limit

Even in a lightly used home, a vent should not go more than two years between cleanings. Lint keeps collecting whether or not you notice it.

Sooner if: A long run, a roof termination, or a vent that has never been cleaned at all.

Book a dryer vent cleaning
Twice a Year

Busy households

Large families, daily loads, bedding and pet hair all fill a vent faster, especially where the run is long or vents through the roof.

Sooner if: Two or more loads a day, or a dryer that already needs two cycles.

OUR METHOD

Our Dryer Vent Cleaning Process

We clear the exhaust run with rotary brushes and air tools worked through the duct toward the outside, so the lint leaves the house instead of being packed further into the run or pushed back toward the dryer.

The approach depends on where the vent terminates. A side-wall vent is cleaned from the dryer and from outside; a roof vent is cleaned through the run and at the cap on the roof.

How the dryer vent cleaning process works

1. Find the termination

We confirm where the vent actually exits, whether that is a side wall, a soffit or a cap on the roof.

2. Clear the outside first

Packed lint is removed from the termination so the run has somewhere to empty once it is worked.

3. Disconnect and vacuum

The dryer is pulled out and the transition hose, the wall connection and the area behind the machine are vacuumed.

4. Clean the run

Brushes and air tools are worked through the duct to loosen lint and carry it out through the termination.

5. Reconnect the dryer

The transition hose is refitted, and we let you know if it is crushed, damaged or longer than it should be.

6. Check the airflow

With the dryer running, we check the airflow at the termination and review what we found with you.

WHY DIRECTION MATTERS

Lint out of the house, not further into the run

Pushing a brush in from the dryer end tends to compact lint ahead of it and can pack the termination solid. We work the run toward the outside so the lint has somewhere to go, and nothing is forced back toward the dryer the job is meant to protect.

  • Lint carried out through the termination, not compacted deeper
  • Long interior runs and roof caps reached properly
  • The transition hose checked while the dryer is pulled out

What to expect when we arrive for a dryer vent cleaning

1

A call before we arrive

Our team confirms the appointment and gives you a window, so you are not waiting around all day for the crew.

2

Access to the dryer

We need to pull the dryer out from the wall. If there is anything stacked on or around it, clearing it beforehand speeds things up.

3

Roof access if needed

Where the vent exits through the roof, the technician works from a ladder at the cap. You do not need to do anything for this part.

4

Most visits are short

A standard dryer vent cleaning usually takes well under a couple of hours, with longer or roof runs taking a little more time.

5

Findings explained

If the hose is crushed, a joint has come apart or the termination is damaged, we show you and give you the repair price before doing it.

6

Airflow checked, area cleaned

We run the dryer to check the airflow at the termination, vacuum the laundry area and leave it ready to use.

We had our dryer vent cleaned by CAD Clean Air Duct Cleaning, and I’m honestly so glad we did. It hadn’t been cleaned in years, definitely not since we moved in a couple of years ago, so it was long overdue. The tech JJ showed up right on time, got to work quickly, and was super respectful of the space. He didn’t waste any time but still made sure to explain what he was doing and why it mattered. You could tell he knew his stuff. The dryer’s working noticeably better now! Clothes dry faster and the airflow is clearly improved. He also gave us a quote for whole-house duct cleaning while he was here, and based on how smooth and efficient this visit was, we’re already planning to book them again. Definitely recommend CAD Clean Air Duct Cleaning if you’re looking for honest, professional service that gets results at an affordable price. Can’t beat that!

We used Mold & Duct Cleaning Experts for mold testing before moving in. My husband had so many questions, David ended up staying way later than he probably should've of. It was much appreciated though because we ended up renting somewhere else. I feel like we dodged a bullet. Thanks David.

We've been using Clean Air Duct Cleaning for several years now and they continue to provide outstanding service every time. It's rare to find a company that consistently delivers such professionalism, reliability, and excellent customer care. A special thank you to Amy, who always makes scheduling easy and stress-free. She is friendly, organized, responsive and such a pleasure to work with. Her communication and attention to detail help make the entire process seamless from start to finish. We'd also like to recognize JJ, who performed our most recent service. He was punctual, friendly, professional and took the time to explain the work being performed. He answered any questions we had and it's clear he takes pride in doing the job right and ensuring customer satisfaction. Though we didn't personally communicate with Zarek, who was training under and assisting JJ, it was great to see the teamwork between them and both represented the company exceptionally well. The quality of the work, level of professionalism, and excellent customer service are why we continue to trust Clean Air Duct Cleaning year after year. We highly recommend them to anyone looking for a dependable company that truly values its customers. Thank you, Amy, JJ and Zarek for another great experience!

Updated, they are working to make it right. If a company is willing to stand behind their work they are ok in my book. I paid 450$ to this company to clean my air ducts expecting them to actually clean them. I have had some asthma issues and looked in our air ducts again and look what I found. They later called me to explain why it was there I am notadvocating for the lack of information initially however if they make it right I’m good.

I make an appointment to have my air duct cleaned today. J.J and Roy came and inspected my air ducts and explained and showed me that my air ducts where clean and that all the black that I seeing is due to sooot from the candle burning and that I didn't need that service. I was really shook and impressed for their honesty. Most of the companies are only looking for the money and for charging you, even if you don't need it. They were nice, professionals and gave me some advise for future care of my air conditioning unit. I will definitely will be recommending this company to my friends. It is one in a million you can found a company that is honest and give you good service. Thanks guys!!!

COMPLETE GUIDE

What Does Dryer Vent Cleaning Involve?

Professional dryer vent cleaning removes the lint and debris that build up between the dryer and the outside termination. It is the part of the system a homeowner cannot reach with a vacuum or a store-bought brush kit.

The work depends on how the vent is routed. A short run through an exterior wall is a quicker job than a long run from an interior laundry room up through the attic to a roof cap, which is why roof and two-story vents are priced differently.

How Are Dryer Vents Cleaned?

The dryer is pulled out and disconnected, the termination outside is cleared, and brushes and air tools are worked through the run so the lint leaves through the termination.

Once the run is clear, the transition hose is refitted and the airflow is checked at the outside vent with the dryer running.

Why Do Interior Laundry Rooms Clog Faster?

A dryer against an exterior wall may vent through only a few feet of duct. A dryer in a central laundry room can vent fifteen or twenty feet with several bends, and every bend is a place lint stops moving.

If your laundry is in the middle of the house, assume the run is long and plan on cleaning it at least once a year.

Is the Hose Behind the Dryer the Vent?

The flexible hose behind the dryer is only the first few feet. Vacuuming it is worth doing, but the blockage that matters is usually further along, inside the wall, in the attic or at the termination.

That is why a dryer can still take two cycles after the hose has been cleaned: the restriction is somewhere the homeowner cannot reach.

How Long Does Dryer Vent Cleaning Take?

Most residential dryer vent cleanings take about an hour, depending on the length of the run and where it terminates.

Roof vents, very long runs and vents that turn out to need repair take longer. We tell you if that is the case before doing anything extra.

How Can I Tell the Vent Is Working?

With the dryer running, go outside and feel the air at the termination. You should feel a strong, warm flow, and the flap should stand open.

A weak flow or a flap that barely lifts means the run is still restricted or damaged somewhere between the dryer and the outside.

Dryer vent cleaning FAQ

01How much does dryer vent cleaning cost?

Our standard dryer vent cleaning is $89 for a single-story home and $149 for a two-story home or a vent reached from the roof. Repairs to crushed, disconnected or damaged vents are priced separately and explained before any work is done.

02How often should a dryer vent be cleaned?

We recommend once a year for most homes and no longer than every 24 months. Large households, long runs and roof terminations may need it more often.

03What are the signs of a clogged dryer vent?

Clothes taking longer to dry, the dryer or clothes very hot at the end of a cycle, a hot laundry room, lint around the termination and little airflow at the outside vent. A burning smell means you should stop using the dryer and have the vent checked.

04Can I clean the dryer vent myself?

You can vacuum the lint screen housing and the hose behind the dryer. The rest of the run, inside the wall, in the attic and at the termination, needs the right tools to clean without packing the lint tighter.

05Do you clean dryer vents that exit through the roof?

Yes. Roof terminations are common in Central Florida, especially in two-story homes and homes with an interior laundry room. Roof and two-story vents are $149.

06What if my dryer vent is damaged?

We explain what we found and give you the price for the repair before doing it. Crushed transition hoses, disconnected joints and non-compliant terminations are covered under dryer vent repair.
