Dryer Vent Repair in Central Florida

Some dryer vents need more than a cleaning. Crushed hoses, joints that have come apart, runs that sag or leak, and terminations that end in the attic or carry a screen all restrict the airflow no matter how clean the duct is.

We inspect the accessible vent, explain what we found and give you the price for the repair before doing any work.

DRYER VENT REPAIR

What Dryer Vent Repair Covers

A cleaning removes what is inside the vent. A repair fixes the vent itself: a transition hose crushed behind the dryer, a section that has pulled apart in the wall or attic, a joint leaking lint, or a termination that is damaged or does not meet code.

Repairs are priced on the work involved. Before we start, we explain what we found and give you the price for your approval.

  • Crushed or kinked transition hoses replaced
  • Disconnected joints reconnected
  • Leaking joints sealed
  • Damaged terminations and caps replaced
  • Screens removed from exhaust terminations
  • Vent cleaned as part of the repair

Why Homeowners Call Us for Dryer Vent Repair

Repairs are only worth paying for if they fix the reason the dryer is struggling. We find that reason first, explain it plainly and price the fix before doing it.

The Cause Found First

We inspect the accessible vent from the dryer to the termination before recommending any repair.

Priced Before We Start

Every repair is explained and priced before it is performed, so you decide what gets done.

Built to Florida Code

Terminations, connectors and runs are repaired with the Florida Building Code requirements for dryer exhausts in mind.

Cleaned While We Are There

A repaired vent is cleaned at the same time, so the airflow you get afterwards is the full airflow.

Local Central Florida Company

We repair dryer vents across Hernando, Pasco, Citrus, Sumter, Marion and Hillsborough counties.

Photos of the Problem

We photograph what we find when applicable, so you can see the crushed section or the failed joint for yourself.

Honest About What Is Needed

If a cleaning alone will fix the problem, we will tell you rather than sell you a repair.

Work Area Left Clean

We clean up the laundry area and any work space when the job is done.

CLEANING OR REPAIR

When Is Cleaning Not Enough?

If clothes still take two cycles after a recent vent cleaning, the problem is usually the vent itself. A crushed hose, a section that has come apart or a termination that will not open restricts the airflow just as much as a lint blockage.

We see a lot of vents in Florida homes installed in ways the code does not allow, most often a run that ends in the attic rather than outside. Those need correcting, not cleaning.

WHEN TO CALL

When Should a Dryer Vent Be Repaired?

Book a repair visit when a cleaning has not solved the problem, when you can see damage, or when you find signs of lint or moisture where they should not be.

Still Slow

After a cleaning

If drying times have not improved after a recent vent cleaning, the run is probably damaged or restricted somewhere a cleaning cannot fix.

Sooner if: Two cycles to dry a load, even with a clean lint screen and hose.

Visible damage

A crushed hose behind the dryer, a joint that has come apart or a damaged termination should be fixed before the dryer is used heavily.

Sooner if: A flattened hose, a loose connection or a broken flap outside.

Straight Away

In the attic

Lint or damp on the attic insulation near the run means the vent is leaking or ending in the attic, and hot, damp air is going into the roof space.

Sooner if: Lint on insulation, damp patches or a musty smell in the attic.

OUR APPROACH

Our Dryer Vent Repair Process

We start by following the vent from the dryer to the termination and checking every accessible section. That tells us whether the problem is lint, damage, a poor installation or a combination.

The repair is then matched to what we found, from replacing a crushed hose to reconnecting a run or replacing a termination, and the vent is cleaned as part of the job.

How a dryer vent repair works

1. Inspect the vent

We check the transition hose, the wall connection, the accessible run and the termination.

2. Explain what we found

You see the problem, hear what fixing it involves and get the price before we start.

3. Make the repair

Crushed sections are replaced, joints reconnected and sealed, and damaged terminations replaced.

4. Clean the run

The vent is cleaned so the repaired run starts with a clear path.

5. Reconnect the dryer

The dryer is refitted with a proper transition connector, kept as short as possible.

6. Check the airflow

We run the dryer and check the airflow at the termination before we leave.

A COMMON FAULT

Vents that never reached the outside

One of the most common faults we find is a dryer vent that ends in the attic or a wall cavity instead of outside the home. It can look finished from the laundry room, while it puts hot, damp, lint-laden air straight into the house structure. Correcting it means extending the run to a proper termination.

  • Runs that end in the attic or a wall cavity
  • Screens fitted over exhaust terminations
  • Oversized or crushed transition hoses

What to expect on a repair visit

1

A clear booking

Tell us what you have noticed when you call, and whether the vent has been cleaned recently.

2

Inspection first

The technician looks at the whole accessible vent before recommending anything.

3

A price before work

You get the repair price and decide whether to go ahead before any work starts.

4

Access explained

If a repair needs access through a wall or ceiling, we explain what is involved and how it will be left before we begin.

5

Repair and clean

The repair is made and the vent is cleaned so the whole run is clear.

6

Tested before we leave

The dryer is reconnected and the airflow checked at the termination.

Signs You Need a Repair, Not Just a Cleaning

Clothes still take two cycles after a recent vent cleaning
A crushed, kinked or flattened hose behind the dryer
A joint that has pulled apart at the wall or in the attic
Lint or damp on the attic insulation near the run
Excess heat or humidity in the laundry room
A termination flap that is broken or will not open
A screen fitted over the outside vent
A burning smell while the dryer runs

WHAT IT COSTS

How much does dryer vent repair cost?

Dryer vent repair is priced on the work involved, because a replaced transition hose is a very different job from a run that has to be re-routed to a new termination.

We inspect the accessible vent first, explain what we found and give you the price before doing any work.

If a cleaning alone will solve the problem, that is what we recommend. Standard dryer vent cleaning is $89 for a single-story home and $149 for a two-story home or a vent reached from the roof.

No repair is started until you have seen what is wrong and agreed the price.

We had our dryer vent cleaned by CAD Clean Air Duct Cleaning, and I’m honestly so glad we did. It hadn’t been cleaned in years, definitely not since we moved in a couple of years ago, so it was long overdue. The tech JJ showed up right on time, got to work quickly, and was super respectful of the space. He didn’t waste any time but still made sure to explain what he was doing and why it mattered. You could tell he knew his stuff. The dryer’s working noticeably better now! Clothes dry faster and the airflow is clearly improved. He also gave us a quote for whole-house duct cleaning while he was here, and based on how smooth and efficient this visit was, we’re already planning to book them again. Definitely recommend CAD Clean Air Duct Cleaning if you’re looking for honest, professional service that gets results at an affordable price. Can’t beat that!

We used Mold & Duct Cleaning Experts for mold testing before moving in. My husband had so many questions, David ended up staying way later than he probably should've of. It was much appreciated though because we ended up renting somewhere else. I feel like we dodged a bullet. Thanks David.

We've been using Clean Air Duct Cleaning for several years now and they continue to provide outstanding service every time. It's rare to find a company that consistently delivers such professionalism, reliability, and excellent customer care. A special thank you to Amy, who always makes scheduling easy and stress-free. She is friendly, organized, responsive and such a pleasure to work with. Her communication and attention to detail help make the entire process seamless from start to finish. We'd also like to recognize JJ, who performed our most recent service. He was punctual, friendly, professional and took the time to explain the work being performed. He answered any questions we had and it's clear he takes pride in doing the job right and ensuring customer satisfaction. Though we didn't personally communicate with Zarek, who was training under and assisting JJ, it was great to see the teamwork between them and both represented the company exceptionally well. The quality of the work, level of professionalism, and excellent customer service are why we continue to trust Clean Air Duct Cleaning year after year. We highly recommend them to anyone looking for a dependable company that truly values its customers. Thank you, Amy, JJ and Zarek for another great experience!

Updated, they are working to make it right. If a company is willing to stand behind their work they are ok in my book. I paid 450$ to this company to clean my air ducts expecting them to actually clean them. I have had some asthma issues and looked in our air ducts again and look what I found. They later called me to explain why it was there I am notadvocating for the lack of information initially however if they make it right I’m good.

I make an appointment to have my air duct cleaned today. J.J and Roy came and inspected my air ducts and explained and showed me that my air ducts where clean and that all the black that I seeing is due to sooot from the candle burning and that I didn't need that service. I was really shook and impressed for their honesty. Most of the companies are only looking for the money and for charging you, even if you don't need it. They were nice, professionals and gave me some advise for future care of my air conditioning unit. I will definitely will be recommending this company to my friends. It is one in a million you can found a company that is honest and give you good service. Thanks guys!!!

HOMEOWNER GUIDE

Understanding Dryer Vent Repairs

Most dryer vent problems are lint. The ones that are not tend to come back after every cleaning, and those are the ones worth understanding before you pay for anything.

Cleaning, Sealing or Replacement?

Cleaning removes lint and obstructions from a vent that is sound. Sealing closes leaking joints so lint and moisture stay inside the duct. Replacement installs new sections where the existing ones are crushed, damaged or cannot be made compliant.

Which you need depends on the condition of the vent, which is why we inspect before recommending anything.

Why Do Transition Hoses Fail?

The hose behind the dryer gets pushed against the wall every time the dryer is moved, and thin foil or plastic hoses crush easily. A crushed hose restricts the airflow at the very start of the run.

A proper transition connector, kept short and not crushed, is one of the simplest fixes we make.

What Does Florida Code Require?

Dryer exhausts must end outside the home, not in the attic, a crawl space or a wall cavity, and the termination should have a backdraft damper rather than a screen.

We repair vents with those requirements in mind and tell you if part of an existing installation does not meet them.

Can a Vent Be Repaired Without Opening Walls?

Often, yes. Many repairs are made at the dryer, in the attic or at the termination without opening anything.

Where a failed section can only be reached through a wall or ceiling, we explain what is involved before starting so there are no surprises.

How Long Does a Repair Take?

A replaced hose or reconnected joint is usually part of a single short visit. Re-routing a run or replacing a termination takes longer.

We give you an idea of timing when we explain the repair and its price.

Dryer vent repair FAQ

01How do I know if my dryer vent needs repair and not just cleaning?

If clothes still take two cycles after a recent cleaning, or you can see a crushed hose, a loose joint or a damaged termination, the vent itself needs attention. Lint or damp on the attic insulation near the run is another sign.

02How much does dryer vent repair cost?

It depends on what needs fixing. We inspect the accessible vent, explain the problem and give you the price before doing any work.

03Can my dryer vent end in the attic?

No. A dryer exhaust must end outside the home. A vent that ends in the attic puts hot, damp, lint-laden air into the roof space and should be extended to a proper termination.

04Do you replace the hose behind the dryer?

Yes. A crushed or damaged transition hose is one of the most common repairs we make. We fit a proper transition connector and tell you the price first.

05Is it safe to use the dryer before the repair?

If you notice a burning smell, stop using it. Otherwise, a restricted vent makes the dryer run hotter and longer, so it is best to have it repaired soon.

06Do you clean the vent as part of a repair?

Yes. A repaired vent is cleaned so the whole run starts with a clear path and full airflow.
